Minimalist Blogger 3: Deborah from Debby Boo Vlogs!!!!

As an African American woman, I’m fully aware and embrace all of my uniqueness (i.e. my untamed hair, large back side, etc.). My minimal style allows my spirit to shine through and I love how I can own that just by dressing simplistic attire.

1. What is minimalist style to you?

Minimal style is truly about confidence. Lose the distractions and theatrics. Confidence is that tailored coat that’s lasted longer than your last relationship, those leather shoes that you’ve worn to death, or that slightly overpriced button down that’s your go-to when you’re rushing out the door. You have to own yourself to embody such a classic and simple outfit

2. How would you describe your blog?

DBV (DebbyBooVlogs) is a fashion and wellness destination based in Seattle that is home to economically and conscious trends for your body and soul. It’s a place to empower you physically, mentally, and emotionally through transparent advice, outfits, and stories

3. What inspired you to become a minimalist blogger?

My style has changed drastically. I used to wear cheetah dresses paired with chained headdresses and red booties. If you’re having a bad day, I hope that made you giggle compared to my style now. But I was very bold! I still admire that phase in my life. When I realized that I could just be me, subtly dramatic, minimal fashion just stuck. So, I evolved my blog to reflect my style and soul changes that are founded on authenticity.

4. What brands or designers inspire your minimalist style?

I love Oak + Fort, House of Sunny, Elizabeth Suzann, and Hack With Design brands and designers at the moment. I’m so obsessed with each of their collections.

5. How do you pull off minimalist style without being boring?

I think imperfection can make your whole look way more enticing. So, I’ll do my make-up very well and go for messy or undone hair. I have braids right now, so I’m embracing that they are growing out and fuzzy. For makeup, I have two signature looks: super feminine with pinks and peach hues or edgy with cool tones and dark lipsticks. Find your signature style and you will never look boring.

6. Why has your culture/background impacted your minimalist style?

As an African American woman, I’m fully aware and embrace all of my uniqueness (i.e. my untamed hair, large back side, etc.). My minimal style allows my spirit to shine through and I love how I can own that just by dressing simplistic attire.
